Ocean Rocks Seascape Painting, 16″ x 20 “, Acrylic on Canvas, 2010
by Charles C. Clear III

I found my inspiration for this Seascape Painting at the Fishermen’s Memorial State Park in Narragansett, Rhode Island. The park is just a stone’s throw to the west of the Point Judith Lighthouse.

One beautiful late summer afternoon I was wandering along the breakwater of the Harbor Refuge. I was immersed in beauty at nearly every turn. This scene, however, mesmerized me. The surf was rough that day, but it didn’t just slam into the rocks and retreat; Instead, it exploded and it danced, and it jumped in delight, the white foam forming images and abstracts that changed in the blink of a well pleased eye.

The Harbor Refuge has been my inspiration for many seascape paintings, including ‘Harbor Refuge’, ‘Rocky Shore’, and ‘Point Judith’, just to name a few.
