This is a Painted Pet Portrait of Abe, an old chocolate or black Labradorwith a kind, expressive face. I painted him sitting on a bed of green grass in the shadow of a tree, and behind him is an idyllic setting with water and gentle rolling hills. For this commission, I photographed Abe in mid-November of 2014 on a day that was sunny and cool. He moved a little slow, but he seemed happy and healthy. I painted Abe’s portrait using my photo’s as a reference. Sadly, Abe passed away just a few weeks later. This Pet Portrait will be an everlasting memorial to a beloved family member.
