Rhode Island Collage Mural at the VA Medical Center in Providence

For a taste of the Ocean State, this Rhode Island Collage Mural has it all!

From the State House to Pawtucket’s Slater Mill to the Newport Bridge and Trinity Church – not to mention the Kentish Guards, Princess Redwing of the Seven Crescents, the Pawsox baseball team, the statue of Roger Williams that overlooks the City he founded, a nod to Rhode Islander’s love for vanity plates, and let’s not forget everybody’s favorite Polar Bear……all packed into a Mural 30 feet long and 9 feet high.

The mural was painted in the foyer of the VA Medical Center in Providence, Rhode Island wayyy back in 2000.

This mural was eye-catching and fun to see in person – the veterans loved it!

This Rhode Island Collage was the third Mural painted for the Veterans Administration. The first, “Home of the Brave” was painted for the grand opening of the V.A. Primary Care Center in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1996. The second, “Land of the Free”, was painted for the grand opening of the V.A. Primary Care Center in Hyannis, Massachusetts in 1998.

This next picture shows a couple of details from the mural. On the left is a Paw Sox player, and on the right is Princess Red Wing of the Seven Crescents:

This is a key to the mural that was created by the VA:

Sadly, this Rhode Island Collage mural was lost in 2018 when the wall was removed as part of a complete renovation of the VA Medical Center’s foyer. Even so, the mural was enjoyed by veterans, staff, and guests for a full 18 years!
