Trompe loeil Window Mural, 4′ x 5′, 2007
Private Residence, Lincoln, Rhode Island
by Charles C. Clear III and BonnieLee Turner
This trompe loeil window scene brightens up a secondary kitchen on the lower level of a luxury home, and features a view of the backyard of one of the homeowner’s seaside properties. Every inch of the approximately 5′ x 4′ mural is meticulously detailed, from the covered garden glider, to the sea roses, to the rocks that lead to the breaking waves at the water’s edge.
Painted on a pale yellow wall, the mural was sized to fit perfectly over the wood shelf that stretched between two light switches, and we framed the window scene with faux wood molding to match the real wood in the room.
